Jay 'fights' on set, A-mei spreads love

In this week's issue, the magazine goes behind-the-scenes in Ningxia province for a quick peek at pop star Jay Chou, as he snuggles up to hot model Lin Chi-Ling on the set of his new, eagerly anticipated blockbuster Ci Ling. U-WEEKLY visits Ci Ling set With its charming blend of action, romance, comedy and fantastical time-travel elements, Ci Ling looks set to be Asian's version of the Indiana Jones series. Here are some interesting facts about the film: Filming was mostly done outdoors in Yinchuan, the capital of Ningxia province, renowned in mainland China for its relatively dry, desert-like plains, which provided the right backdrop for the movie. Several tents were pitched on set and within one of them, reporters witnessed model-turned-actress Lin Chi-ling engrossed in a subtle, emotional scene. The only time she let down her hair and jumped around excitedly was when she went over to greet the guide conducting this one-day media tour. One particular scene had Jay and Chi-ling's characters encountering a mini sandstorm in the desert. Chi-ling leaned on Jay's sturdy chest and both looked visibly nervous. After the shoot, assistants were seen rushing over with tissue napkins to help the stars remove 'tears' and 'sand' from their eyes. Jay drives a cool, black sports utility vehicle in the film. According to a friendly crew member, Jay plays video games in his own trailer and sometimes gets others on the film set to 'slug it out' with him. An abandoned old bus is turned into a makeshift kitchen on the film set. On the day of the media tour, there was an ongoing barbecue session. Everyone was gobbling down their food in delight and the calafares (showbiz lingo for bit-part actors) joined in the feast too.
