Taiwan model eyes film project

Taiwan model/actress Lin Chi-ling (pictured left) has joined hands with mainland actor Sun Honglei (pictured) to star in a Chinese version of Indiana Jones.

Tentatively entitled Battle in Shama Town (Juezhan Shamazhen), the black comedy tells of how Lin and Sun's team fight with several other treasure hunters in a desert in West China.

Since her big screen debut in John Woo's Red Cliff (Chi Bi), Taiwan's No 1 model has been working hard to be as famous in the film industry.

She also stars in The Treasure Hunter (Ci Ling), appearing with iconic Taiwan singer Jay Chou. The film will open in December.

Although her performance in Red Cliff was not widely acclaimed and some still categorize her as just a pretty face, Lin has won support from Sun and director Li Weiran, who says she is the best and only choice for the role.

The film will premiere next summer.

Jay Chou and Lin Chi-ling to visit Singapore in December

Directed by Taiwanese director Kevin Chu, Treasure Hunter depicts a story of a chivalrous young man, Qiao Fei (Jay Chou) who risks it all and attempts to defeat an unscrupulous organization by protecting the treasure. The movie cost up to S$21,000,000 to produce, and also stars leggy Taiwanese supermodel, Lin Chi-ling alongside Eric Tsang, Chen Daoming, Chen Chuhe, and Will Liu.

Singapore will be the first stop for the movie's 11-day promotional tour. Lead actors Jay and Chi-ling will both arrive in Singapore on December 20 before they head to Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan.

There will be a photographic display of the movie at the entrance of Plaza Singapura till October 31. Shoppers will be able to catch a sneak peek of the movie with over 20 photographs on display.

The two have come together for a variety comedy program which was filmed last 23rd. They two showed off their fashion styles!

ASIA'S pop king of the new generation, Jay Chou, is in a new film.

Since his last film Secret, which Chou directed and starred in, The Treasure Hunter will be his next project.

The adventure flick is directed by Taiwanese Kevin Chu, who also directed Jay Chou's Kung Fu Dunk.

Director Chu revealed that the story revolves round a pair of lovers who accidentally fall into a time passage and find themselves in Mongolia. They go on to fight for a treasure inside Genghis Khan's tomb.

Who, then, will be Jay Chou's next J girl?

It is none other than the beautiful Taiwanese supermodel Lin Chi Ling, who will co-star in The Treasure Hunter.

Other names in the cast include Taiwanese actor River Chen, Hong Kong actor Eric Tsang and Chinese actor Chen Dao Ming.

Filming of the movie has started in Mongolia, but it has been a hush hush affair till now.

Word has it that the 1.73-metres tall Jay Chou might look slightly short standing beside the 1.74m Lin, especially if she wears heels in the movie.
