Lin Chi-ling heads to London to shoot 2010 calendar

Newly nominated as the Taiwan Yahoo! Portal ambassador this year, Taiwanese model-actress Lin Chi-ling will be showing her cute and sexy side in a series of limited edition 2010 calendars. Ever since she became the ambassador, more than 35 community partners came forth to make donations that amounted up to S$5million in total, doubling the amount of donations raked in last year.

Only 10,000 copies of it will be made available for this special 2010 calendar,. The 1.74m-tall lanky model will also participate in the design process for this calendar and will personally pen a few words on it. She specially recorded a 10 minutes behind-the-scenes filming special for this calendar.

Chi-ling can be seen in a variety of different outfits for this calendar, portraying both girly innocence and mature sexy vibes in some poses. Playfully rolling around the grass fields, or shopping along the streets of London, the 34-year-old model looks approachable and every bit of a sunshine poster girl.

She will be heading to Singapore in December to promote her upcoming Chinese movie, Treasure Hunters, with Jay Chou.

Lin Chiling faces resistance on her return as a TV host

Taiwanese model-actress Lin Chiling faces public resistance on her return as a TV host, with 80% of netizens voting that they do not want to watch her!

So is the actress planning to make a comeback?

In October, Lin Chiling appeared as a guest performer and host on a Hunan variety programme Happy Camp, to introduce Korea. As the ratings were pretty good, it was rumoured that Hunan TV wanted to hire Lin as a TV host but her manager declined the offer on her behalf, stating that Lin wants to focus on movies instead.

Lin, who has previously hosted programmes such as the Golden Horse Award and the Golden Melody Awards, has received praises for her performance and was also termed as the "most beautiful host". When she was a guest host on Happy Camp, her interactions with Korean stars like Lee Min-ho and Yoon Eun-Hye were very funny and interesting, leading host Xie Na to write on her blog that she "hoped that Lin Chiling can spend more time with them". As a result, rumours flew that Lin was indeed intending to make a comeback.

Two days ago, it was reported that while Hunan TV had an intention of working with Lin, 80% of the netizens rejected her comeback, stating that Lin's doll-like voice was a turn off and even declared that if "Lin was on the show, we won't watch it".

Hunan TV's editor-director Li Hao explained that the media reports were inaccurate. "We already have five TV hosts and to be a long-term host, you have to come down for recording at least once a week. As of now, Lin Chiling is unable to commit to that but we will work out something with her if we need a guest host," he said.

Lin's manager expressed that she is currently focusing on movies and will not be hosting. Towards the netizens' criticisms, Lin's humble response was "if there are good criticisms, I will accept it".

Taipei starts countdown to 2010 flora expo

Taipei starts countdown to 2010 flora expo

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Hau Lung-bin, Mayor of Taipei City, announced yesterday the opening of the Taipei flora expo in a year or exactly 365 days.

The 2010 Taipei International Gardening and Horticultural Exposition is slated to run from Nov. 6, 2010, though Apr. 25, 2011. The event will take place in 14 venues in the city.

Hau invited model Lin Chi-ling to be an ambassador to help promote the capital's landmark event.

Lin stunned the audience when she appeared in a dress ornamented with pink roses and light yellow orchids at a press conference in a newly-constructed pavilion for the expo. Hau represented sunflowers, said Lin, that give off vigorous spirits and energy while she was more like a tulip that was content.

The top model wanted to deliver positive messages to everyone.

Following the 2009 World Games in Kaohsiung, Taipei City is expected to bring Taiwan to the world's attention again.

The expo should attract more than eight million people from home and abroad and bring in estimated revenue of NT$16.8 billion.

Hau believed the expo would increase tourism and boost local economic development.

The Taipei City Government yesterday opened the first exhibition pavilion that will be used in the Taipei International Flora Expo on Zhongshan N Road as the city began the 365-day countdown to the event.

The Butterfly Pavilion, one of 14 that have been constructed or renovated around the city for the expo, resembles a butterfly pupa and will be used as a performance center after the expo next year.

Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin (郝龍斌) joined local supermodel Lin Chiling (林志玲) and 365 students in celebrating the completion of the pavilion, which he said was expected to boost the city’s international reputation.

“We are hoping that the expo will introduce Taipei to the world and let the world see Taipei is the same way the Deaflympics did,” he said.

Lin, dressed in clothes decorated with flowers, accepted an invitation to serve as one of the expo’s promotion ambassadors. She said she would use every chance she gets to promote the event.

The expo will be held from Nov. 6 next year until April 25, 2011, at several locations around Taipei City. At least five exhibition pavilions will be established around Yuanshan Park and Xinsheng Park in the city’s Datong District (大同).

Hau said the expo would also boost the development of the district with the construction of pavilions and urban projects.

Taiwan model eyes film project

Taiwan model/actress Lin Chi-ling (pictured left) has joined hands with mainland actor Sun Honglei (pictured) to star in a Chinese version of Indiana Jones.

Tentatively entitled Battle in Shama Town (Juezhan Shamazhen), the black comedy tells of how Lin and Sun's team fight with several other treasure hunters in a desert in West China.

Since her big screen debut in John Woo's Red Cliff (Chi Bi), Taiwan's No 1 model has been working hard to be as famous in the film industry.

She also stars in The Treasure Hunter (Ci Ling), appearing with iconic Taiwan singer Jay Chou. The film will open in December.

Although her performance in Red Cliff was not widely acclaimed and some still categorize her as just a pretty face, Lin has won support from Sun and director Li Weiran, who says she is the best and only choice for the role.

The film will premiere next summer.
