A wax statue will be molded after Taiwanese top model Lin Chi-ling's image as "Xiao Qiao" in movie "Red Cliff". The statue is expected to be ready by Jan 2009. At the Madame-Tussauds Hong Kong press conference, Lin says the sculptor spent three hours on creating the made-to-measure wax sculpture. Her modeling experiences came in useful when she has to stand stationary for hours. "Red Cliff" has built up Lin's interest in acting and she says she would like to take on acting as a life long career when opportunity arises. She also praised her partner in Red Cliff, Tony Leung, for leading her into the role as "Xiao Qiao". Pace Wu Pei-Ci, a Taiwanese actress and model, will replace supermodel Lin Chiling as co-host of this year's Mid-Autumn Festival Gala produced by Beijing-based China Central Television (CCTV). A report in the Beijing News said Lin could not co-host the show because of her busy schedule and that Wu's agency confirmed that she would replace Lin. CCTV has not confirmed the news. Guo Jihong, the gala's director, said at a press conference in late August that CCTV selected Lin as co-host, mainly because of her eye-catching performance in the latest film blockbuster "Red Cliff," which has posted record box-office earnings. This is not the first time that Lin has had to bow out of the gala. In early 2006, she was picked as a potential co-host for the state television broadcaster's gala in the coastal city of Xiamen. Taipei - Taiwan's largest bus company is teaching its drivers how to flash the best smile to welcome Chinese tourists, a cable TV channel reported Friday. The Taiwan Motor Transport Co, which operates long-distance buses across the island, has launched a 'Learn to Smile' campaign to prepare its several hundred bus drivers for the influx of Chinese tourists, CTI TV reported. Using a poster showing the face of Taiwan's top female model Lin Chih-ling, the company is asking its bus drivers to imitate Lin's trademark smile - which shows her white teeth - to make Chinese tourists feel welcome. read more here
