Ku6.com Sued For Infringing Chinese Movie's Copyright

Online video website Ku6.com has been sued by the film marketing and planning branch of China Film Group Corporation for copyright infringement of its film "Red Cliff" and the case has been accepted by Haidian People's Court, Beijing.

According to news from 163.com, the plaintiff, China Film Group Corporation, is the copyright owner of "Red Cliff" in mainland China. However, Ku6.com offered the film through its website without the approval of China Film Group Corporation. This behavior has constituted a copyright infringement. In addition, the infringement behavior happened during the film's premier, which the plaintiff says brought great economic loss to the company. Therefore, to protect its own legitimate rights, the plaintiff decided to bring a lawsuit against Ku6.com.

The plaintiff requires Ku6.com to immediately stop the infringement, pay compensation of CNY550,000. and pay the legal fees of CNY50,000.

So far, the case is still being heard and no decision has yet been rendered.
