Moon Lovers ratings dip despite passionate onscreen kiss

Starring Japanese superstar Takuya Kimura and Taiwanese model-actress Lin Chi-ling, ratings for the second episode of the highly-anticipated Japanese romantic drama series, Moon Lovers, dipped by 3% as compared to its premiere episode's record of 22.2%.

In the second episode of Moon Lovers, Takuya and Chi-ling's characters, Hazuki Rensuke and Lin Xiu Mei, grow increasingly intimate. Apart from having a storyline centered on a rags-to-riches Cinderella theme, the ending scene in the second episode featured a brazen Chi-ling initiating a kiss with Takuya's character, followed by a deep embrace by the latter.

The pair was engaged in a passionate onscreen kiss for three minutes and failed to attract viewers despite the sizzling lip-lock action. The show has been slammed by netizens for its unattractive and slow storyline.

Although there has been a minor slide in ratings, Chi-ling has impressed the Japanese audience with her beauty and good figure. They dubbed her "the amazing 35-year-old" and commended her for looking much younger than her actual age.
